That’s great. Write everyday. Try those full three pages of hand written “morning pages” (The Artist’s Way) first thing before you have too many intelligent thoughts. And then you must read Browne & King’s Self-Editing For Fiction Writers and Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and of course, Strunk and White, The Elements of Style. Read and write, read and write and then read and write some more!
Oh, you want to get published?
That’s great. Get to the book store and slap down your money on the most recent Writer’s Market or Jeff Herman’s Guide to Book Publishers, Editors & Literary Agents and find yourself that perfect agent, the one dedicated to lovingly guide you to the top of the Best Sellers List. Check every agent A-Z, make your list and check it twice and query, query, query….
Oh, still waiting for that perfect agent? …..that willing agent?…any agent?
Get Thee to a Writer’s Conference! Money’s no object when chasing your dream, right? You’ll hobnob with other writers, attend magnificent and inspiring workshops by magnificent and inspiring published authors, and best of all, meet hordes of agents and editors that offer their e-mail addresses for the submission of your soon to be award winning first novel!
Oh, you’ve gone broke?
Great – Just great. Well, join the crowd. Just keep going, read, read, read, write, write, write, query, query, query.
And if all else fails, start a blog.
